Therefore, when Heaven is about to confer a great responsibility on a person, it will first test their resolve with suffering, subject their body to toil, starve them of food, leave them destitute, and frustrate their efforts and disrupt their plans. In this way, it tempers their resolve and strengthens their character, enhancing their capabilities in areas where they were once deficie.
